An 8,360-hectare watershed on Mindanao.

The first project of its kind in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, bringing partners and communities together to restore degraded land.

How this project advances the Global Goals.

No Poverty

All our employees and workers are recruited locally, ensuring that employment opportunities benefit surrounding communities and nearby towns first. We provide wages in accordance with local labor legislation, creating sustained sources of income that help workers support their families, strengthen their financial security and build pathways out of poverty.

Quality Education

EcoPlanet supports local education in the BARMM through hands-on learning about climate change and environmental restoration. Children from local early childhood development centers and primary schools periodically visit our project sites, where they explore the impacts of climate change and discover how restoring degraded landscapes can help protect biodiversity, communities and their future.

Gender Equality

EcoPlanet actively promotes the inclusion and advancement of women across our workforce and leadership teams. Women currently represent 47% of the team, supporting our operational implementation and management functions in the Philippines.

Clean Water and Sanitation

Our project area encompasses six sub-watersheds that provide water resources for farmers and residents across the provinces of Bukidnon, North Cotabato and Maguindanao. By restoring degraded areas within these watersheds, we are helping reduce soil erosion and downstream siltation while strengthening the long-term resilience of these vital water systems. EcoPlanet has also supported three communities with rainwater-harvesting tanks and sanitation facilities, improving their access to clean water, hygiene and dignity.

Decent Work and Economic Growth

EcoPlanet ensures that every worker receives health and safety training, appropriate protective equipment and clear guidance on their workplace rights. We are committed to creating a safe and supportive working environment where both our people and the natural landscapes they restore can thrive.

Sustainable Cities and Communities

EcoPlanet supports local communities by creating green, inclusive public spaces where children can play safely and families can gather, connect and enjoy nature. Inspired by our founder’s vision of improving the lives of children, we developed a public park that provides a welcoming space and contributes to a more connected community.

Responsible Consumption and Production

Across all EcoPlanet projects, vegetable waste is collected from kitchens, staff housing and worker facilities for use in composting and vermiculture systems. Rather than being discarded, this organic material is transformed into compost and worm tea for application in our nurseries and fields.

Climate Action

EcoPlanet is restoring degraded land with bamboo and indigenous trees that capture and store carbon as they grow. By rebuilding vegetation cover, protecting watersheds and reducing erosion, the project also strengthens the landscape’s resilience to the impacts of climate change. Our teams complement this work with practical climate education for local children, helping the next generation understand and participate in environmental restoration.

Life on Land

EcoPlanet is restoring degraded landscapes and protecting important ecosystems across the project area. Bamboo is planted alongside indigenous tree species to improve soil stability, rebuild vegetation cover and create more diverse habitats for plants and wildlife. This integrated approach supports biodiversity, reduces erosion and siltation, and strengthens the six sub-watersheds on which surrounding communities and downstream farmers depend.

Partnerships for the Goals

Partnerships are central to the Lanao del Sur Bamboo Reforestation Project. EcoPlanet works alongside the BARMM government, local authorities, communities and partners to combine local knowledge, institutional support and practical expertise. Through open dialogue and shared responsibility, these partnerships strengthen our project implementation while supporting lasting environmental and social outcomes.
