Building forests. Restoring landscapes. Creating long-term value.
Building sustainable bioeconomies for people and the planet.
EcoPlanet is a land restoration and bioeconomy company.
EcoPlanet develops and operates large-scale bamboo forestry and ecological restoration projects across the planet, connecting long-term land management with carbon removals, renewable resources and local economic development.
Our bioeconomy model starts with restoring degraded land. Carbon finance supports the establishment and management of forests and restored ecosystems through two pathways.
Living infrastructure
We restore heavily degraded soils that can no longer support agriculture or other economic uses primarily utilizing select species of non invasive clumping bamboo integrated with trees and other vegetation to create biodiverse forests, sequestering millions of tons of atmospheric carbon and creating sustainable rural livelihoods.
Protected ecosystems
We work in global biodiversity hotspots and with endangered species, utilizing our extensive operating expertise to restore highly threatened ecosystems. These long-term projects include the development of conservation easements or other legal frameworks to ensure that these planetary assets are protected in perpetuity.
In our commercial bamboo projects, those integrated forests are managed as long-term productive assets, generating a resource base of renewable woody biomass that can support local fiber manufacturing and, over time, larger-scale biorefinery development for the targeted replacement of fossil fuels.
One forest. Three engines.
Carbon Removals
Carbon finance supports forest establishment, restoration and long-term management. It allows for restoration to occur in remote challenging locations, for restoration to occur in an integrated and biodiverse manner and for a focus on manual operations, driving rural jobs.
Carbon Removals →Fiber and Materials
Bamboo represents a sustainable and deforestation free fiber for a range of pulp and paper products. EcoPlanet is developing distributed, small-scale bamboo pulp manufacturing close to its forestry assets, with tissue and molded fiber packaging as targeted downstream products.
Fiber and Materials →Renewable Fuels
Bamboo’s woody biomass allows for its conversion into renewable liquid fuels. EcoPlanet is targeting onsite development of cellulosic ethanol biorefineries for each strategically located bamboo resource base, with sustainable aviation fuel as a potential downstream pathway.
